Wow!!! This is a great book, once I starting reading I could not put down. It kept my attention from beginning to end. Very entertaining . Well-developed characters, with just enough action. This book let every women know that whatever situation you find yourself in there is a brighter tomorrow, never lose sight of your dream. Kim I am anxiously awaiting for the next book, I NEED MORE!!!

Kim Robinson pens a work of fiction about a teenager's passage from innocence to hell in the 1980s. "From Streetlife to Housewife" is an eye-opener for young people and parents. Kim gives us a look into Sparkle's life as a bookie, dope pusher and call-girl. The novel is not for the faint hearted. If you enjoy reading about street life and high-rollers, this is the book. The backdrop is a low-income neighborhood in Compton, California, and glimpses into Hollywood and Crenshaw areas of Los Angeles.

At 18 years-of-age, Sparkle's mother tells her, and I paraphrase, one day you're gonna do something great. I done seen a vision...you gonna make a difference. Her parents are normal, God-fearing, church going folks, with the exception of her uncles.

One uncle, an established pimp with a stable of whores, learns of Sparkle's dope dealings, and "protects" her by teaching her the ropes--the rules of the game. She becomes an excellent protégée. But promises her uncle that she will not become a prostitute; however, large money draws her like a magnet. Sparkle runs with a fast crowd yet refuses to sell her body, because of that principle she becomes a challenge to one man--a visiting member of a drug Cartel from Columbia who offers her $2,200 to bed her. She doesn't pass up the money and extends her little enterprise to include call-girl. Although disappointed that she broke her word, uncles continue to "have her back" in everything thing she does.

Big parties, drugs and alcohol nearly every night are a foregone conclusion.

Sparkle has two bad relationships. The first is a gambler who showers big money and expensive clothes on the 19-year-old and him 36. They marry in Las Vegas, with a fake ID. She learns early that her husband is a jealous, controlling, womanizer and annuls their marriage after two months.

The man in the second relationship is insecure and a liar, but they love each other. Trouble rears its head when he learns his wife is turning tricks. He's hurt and wants revenge. He goes to the wrong men--pimps--for advice in dealing with his stubborn, independent wife. She is labeled an outlaw for refusing to share her money with a pimp long ago, so they were very happy to "help a brother out" with advice.

Throughout all the upheaval in her life, she continues to use drugs, work as a call-girl and party. And money comes easy in Sparkle's world.

"From Streetlife to Housewife" has a few bumpy chapters but if you persevere, you won't be disappointed. It's a page-turner, no doubt. I was spellbound to the last page. *I reviewed the 2nd draft of Kim's book, I assume the finished product will read better.*
